The 2023 NHL free agent frenzy is underway with several big names signing new contracts. The Nashville Predators bought out Matt Duchene and he subsequently signed a one-year deal with the Dallas Stars. The Predators also signed center Ryan O’Reilly to a four-year contract worth $18 million. Meanwhile, defenseman Dmitry Orlov inked a two-year, $15.5 million deal with the Carolina Hurricanes, and Tyler Bertuzzi joined the Maple Leafs on a one-year contract.
Teams may also make trades to free up salary cap space, with players like Alex DeBrincat and Connor Hellebuyck rumored to be on the market.
